WORDS & PHOTO BY LUKE PHILLIPS

Scientists announced today that the Salton Buttes, a series of volcanoes under the Salton Sea are much more active than previously thought and are responsible for the swarm of earthquakes that recently struck Brawley and for the rotten egg stench that recently covered much of southern California for a number of days. And not only that, but the USGS has now listed the volcanoes as having a high threat potential for future volcanic blasts. 1. Having been among the first to work the Geothermal projects along the SS. i found it interesting that you have 725 degree water at less than 3500 ft drill depth. But also a view of the mud pots you would find interesting as well. I hope to photo them the Christmas, But don't forget that just 30 miles south of Mexicali there is a active Volcano that at night you can hear rumble still. their Geothermal filed is right on top of it.
