| Deputy Randy McCoy |
Deputy McCoy has served in Holtville for approximately 2 years and has built a reputation as being somewhat un-friendly. I personally know several people that will be glad to see him go and will say good riddance to his heavy-handed policing style.
Deputy McCoy's favorite hobby seemed to be harrassing the youth of the city, but I also know several adults who had unpleasant encounters with him as well. I'm sure Deputy McCoy was only trying to do his job, but this is Holtville, not Compton, and his over-bearing tactics were just not a good fit for our peaceful little town. Cheers to the leadership at the Imperial County Sheriff's Office for recognizing that fact and moving McCoy to a more suitable assignment.
DeLeon also announced that McCoy will be replaced by 15-year Sheriff's Office veteran John Higgins, whose father once served as a police officer in Holtville.
"Full circle," Higgins told the council with a chuckle.
instead of going for the drug dealers and all that he stopped innocent people, just to harass them.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say but I disagree with whoever was against him he's a great person who does his job! The only reason why he may harass people and is mean is cause they deserve it. He's the only sheriff who I knew that took his job serious and would do something about the situations!

DeleteMCCOY harassed innocent people he may have been a great person to you but he went past his limits. He is a good guy but he has a power trip and its not cool he tried to search my house with out warrant because he got a cell phone trace at my house cell phone traces are not right could be any house within 2 blocks im against him using this method to search when it is VERY inaccurate i did not have anyone hiding at my house like he thought and its BS that he tried to throw me in cop car because i told him he can not search my house with out warrant. WAY TOO GO LUKE thanks for sticking up for your town.

DeleteJust check out the video on the Facebook page of thisisholtville to see how heavy handed he was. I heard lots of first hand accounts on how tough he was. Yes it is good to be tough to those who deserve but honestly the way he handled teenagers when too far. We want our youth to grow up an respect officers, not fear them or hate them. McCoy did not do a good job representing Holtville or the Imperial County Sherrifs- many who I know who are very professional. McCoy acted like a beat cop from an inner city. Our town is peaceful and there is no need for that behaviour here. The rest of the Imperial County Sherriff's have been doing a fine job before McCoy and I'm sure will continue to do so. I wish McCoy the best on his new position.

I am a registered member of the tea party and am happy and thankful to see him go, and know many more including officers and city council that feel the same. Political views do not matter when officer MCcoy pulls you over for no reason and is rude and disrespectful!
